Young Monsters

I owned this on floppy disk for my old computer when I was a kid!

IT WAS AMAZING.

Each level took place on a melted chessboard, a la a Salvador Dali painting. Skeletons had gotten loose from Beetlejuice’s closet and now it was up to you (playing as Beetlejuice) and Lydia to stop the skeletons from running amuck in the Netherworld.

Beetlejuice had rotating special powers to blast the skeletons to pieces…Most of these involved spinning heads and spewing slime at the skeletons. The skeletons would fall apart and then Lydia, who followed Beetlejuice’s every move, would suck up the skeletal remains with a vacuum cleaner!

On top of this you the player had to watch out for random sandworms who’d emerge out of the chessboard and swallow you up!

Other characters from the tv show would appear as well, such as the French skeleton and the Texan bigfoot fellow…If the marauding skeletons passed through them these characters would turn evil and if they touched Beetlejuice you’d lose a life!

I spent hours and hours playing this when I was a kid. The levels just progressed on and on and I am honestly unsure if the game even had a beatable end…It seemed to just progress on eternally in different combinations of chessboards and skeletons.

Oh what I would do for a computer emulator of this now! Are there any????
